Worms
Worms and the Nibelungen are permanently and irrevocably linked, as Worms is the setting for most of the action.
The Kings of Burgundy lived at the court in Worms: Gunther, Gernot, Giselher and their sister Kriemhild, who was to become Siegfried's wife. Since 2002, everyone has been talking about the Nibelungen Festival in Worms. Among the big names closesly associated with the festival are Dieter Wedel, Mario Adorf, André Eisermann and Manfred Zapatka.
The unconventional multimedia exhibition at the Nibelungen Museum also thoroughly covers the Nibelungen theme. On its website, the museum describes itself as a "walk-in audio book".
Worms is a modern, lively city with a population of around 83,000. Its landmark is the romanesque St Peter's cathedral, whose origins go back to late Roman times.
